What Projector Screen Should I Buy

"Centurion"

" This is not the beginning of my story, nor the final . " So begins " Centurion " film, directed by Neil Marshall, who takes us back to the time of Emperor Hadrian, when Rome decided to build the famous wall, giving more to fight the fearsome Picts. Michael Fassbender (Centurion Quintus Days) is taken prisoner to drop his garrison managed to escape and enlist in the 9 th Legion (although it says that have 3000 members, the film features neither 30). Victim of a betrayal, the legionnaires are swept by the Pictish tribes, surviving only a group of soldiers (which will henceforth seek, first save his general (taken prisoner), and second, to save themselves.) The "company" of survivors, as says the critic, recalls in excess of Frodo in " The Lord of the Rings ."
The film's budget is comparatively low, and a very good staging (with great views) was not accompanied by a realistic detail, the film approaching dangerously the increasingly typical historical film genre of action ( Do you remember the last on "King Arthur"?). Pretending to hold shares in "British tomato", the film abounds blood, guts and other dislikes, wanting to provide realism to the action (so the price of assimilate partition heads to pumpkin). However, it is just something about this aspect which not only "saves" the movie makes it something worth seeing. "
Continuing the trends of recent times, the soldiers of Centurion "clear away the military" poets "of the old Charlton Heston films, showing the horrors of any war with a cruel sometimes excessive. The excesses of both sides do not stop being a criticism of the war in its entirety. Women raped children killed ... the "exploits" of Romans and Picts remember, not free, those of estadoudinenses and Iraqis. Centurion Quintus Dias is betrayed, along with his troops, by the beautiful Olga Kurylenko (Etain in the film), who, initially, was enlisted by the Romans (although of Pictish origin.) Etain imagined biography speaks for itself. His parents, Picts, were tortured by the troops of the Empire (his blinded father, his mother raped and raped her, while his tongue cut out so that I could never tell what happened). Excess remember, and much, to those committed by the military in old Mesopotamia, now Iraq ... While it is true that "Centurion " the characters are portrayed very poorly in terms of psychology, ceases to be less than the "moral" of the film is commendable and necessary.
After being betrayed by a tracker picta and suffer the harassment of a picto command run by the same treacherous (motivated by the murder in retaliation, the son of the head by a Roman), our centurion is ultimately betrayed by the Romans. First by their Emperor, who withdrew the border to the famous wall that will hold your name, then by the guards of the same (which will trigger one of the survivors, when the approached the wall, jubilant, after spending all possible hardships), and finally, by the Roman politician for the region (who is in survivors of the 9 th a threat to their honor and merit). The ending is predictable, the centurion is the sole survivor finds love in the beautiful Imogen Poots (Arianne), who had formerly been repudiated by the Picts, as regarded a sorceress.
After blood stasis and bad habits, "Centurion " leads to a final thought: the danger of individual identities. Our final marriage makes us see the inconsistencies, excesses and other aspects for the repulsion, both among the Picts and the Romans. In the film referred to in many cases, how little it's worth a human life (either a slave or of a Pict who loses looking to avenge the son of the boss). Ideas like "Men die in war, not political" succeed, the criticism is obvious.
The solution, though predictable, I find it very poetic. Both lovers (the Roman and Pictish) waive their "nationality" facing towards love. Our soldier, even says go to "place" when he plants the Romans (who have tried to kill him by treachery) to be with his love. Individual identities are non-transferable, never collective. Wars are not really ideal, but tools by which leaders "play" and "listed" in the "market power and geo-strategy." Perhaps, if you ask whether much of the film, the key question that arises is the following ... Is not it the greatest mystery of mankind why wars will never be extinguished?
Go see this movie and think about these ideas. Just do not see it in most cases, the offending blood, rather than shown.
