Returning to the most current case, Kosovo, note that the related international positions are varied, while antagonistic. Next to the U.S. independent power (Russia, China), Kosovo was not recognized as a state by Spain, Slovakia, Greece, Malta, Romania and Cyprus (among others). The reasons are various, but always keeping similarities in common, Kosovo has been an "amputation without anesthesia " (as written on several occasions) that opens dangerous precedent, not for Vaco Country, Catalonia, Scotland, Corsica and Flanders (where the similarities with the Kosovo case are zero), but for Bosnia, among other territories.
The fear of a new Bosnian conflict, if resolved at some point, is more than justified. The local population is divided, partly mathematically into three parts: Muslims, Croats and Serbs, so that the independence of a group, based on the methods used by Kosovo, it could be justified, to wield its legitimacy. In Kosovo itself, the region of Mitrovica , something similar could happen, being a Serb majority area (hard hit by the policies promoted by the authority of Kosovo).
The argument of "self" is the greatest challenge to the viability of a Kosovar state. Today, with no expectation for change, Kosovo is completely dependent on Serbia. While exports virtually nothing Kosovo to Serbia, it exported goods to Kosovo worth over 200 million euros (all data collected by Jens Bastian, " Kosovo's independence and its international implications " IEMed Yearbook 2009). Most of the electricity, fuel, and even the water supply (the main water supply comes from the Kosovo Serb side of the lake Gazivoda) come from the country in Belgrade. Along with these contingencies, and many more, there is the problem of debt to cause in Kosovo, when it was still part of Yugoslavia and Belgrade continues to pay the 30,000 cases that the Kosovo Property Agency (KPA) executive body of Pristina, funded by donors, should be resolved (mostly with relation to property of Serbs who fled the area, while still under the power of Belgrade).

But it is time to reflect, and to avoid any parallel, from Spain, Belgium and Britain, with a region that has been torn apart "by eagles and jackals no" in no small measure. The multinational Yugoslavia was the only state able to ensure, for example, in Bosnia peace, experts say, where were the reasons for its destruction?
Tribes are fictions, as well as nations. Metaphysics and philosophy are essential in the formation of modern man, but should be subject to economic efficiency and social welfare. No recent independence has been a success, none has led to increased quality of life of those who have experienced it. In times where the union is required, which should tend toward one "State Iberian" and not to the segregation, or to a Europe similar to the old Roman Empire (but without Caesar), not to a superfragmentación in "Taifa" segmentation and modern inventions, talk about Kosovo, Bosnia and Slovakia should be made accordingly.
